TIme To Shine!

Post 19

Good morning sunshine!!! Time to roll out of bed and actually attempt to get dressed up because I will be going to drop Jodi's portfolio off at the office of the magazine company INTERVIEW. =)
First thing on the list.... go to Jodi's pick up portfolio, get directions, and leave.

Second I got onto the subway that literally sat there for AT LEAST (the time I was there anyway) 15 min. So the only ONE train sitting there, obviously not ready to go, into Manhattan, kept filling up with people. Hmmmmm. So while being laid on basically by a strange man, which is EXACTLY what I want to happen to me when I have to commutate with the pubic =/, I had also become acquainted with the pole. Yes, this going to be good. For those of you who don't know why there is a pole....there is a pole to hold onto so that you don't fall on your ass when then train starts moving. So I'm going to put this in the nicest way possible...I didn't need the pole, I needed the extra 2cm. You don't need to worry about falling when you are packed shoulder to shoulder, except for the 1 person who decides to lay on someone in the train that isn't moving.

Third I picked up the 1 print at Adorama, who didn't have it ready. That got fixed really quick...Thanks to Jodi.

Fourth I went on my way to SoHo; found the building, met Kate, and then I was on my way back to Jodi's studio.

If you were wondering, on my way back the subway trains were near empty and nobody felt the need to lay on me....again =D.

For the final event I sat down with Jodi while she was putting together the layout for the "Animal Spirits" shoot. Then came home and now apparently it is a contest to see how many photographers can collect as many free websites and blog about their ego's. So my next step may be twitter. I'll keep you posted!

Until next time xoxoxo

Database

Post 18

This week has been mostly about researching magazine companies that are in our database and contacting them to market Jodi and Shawn's pictures and video of the fashion shoot. So I had the liberty of being in charge of what Sarah had started, and I started adding to the database. Then Thursday the day was spent contacting all the magazine companies.

I did manage to learn something. Shooting, apparently, is the easy part. It's selling yourself that's the hardest part and one must be blessed with the skill of charming others and being good at talking on the phone. I could not talk to any of these companies only over the phone and expect them to take me seriously when I sound like I'm 6 years old. Oh dear......that's a problem. Oh and the added on bonus of having a country accent. Having a charming voice just wasn't in the cards for me.

Jodi also let the interns try and figure out some layouts for the editorials she wants to do and it was interesting, I'm sure, for her to see our thought process. I think she's to sweet to tell us if they sucked. I'm just going to leave it at that.

I saved this paragraph, what I like it to known as " The exciting paragraph," for last. Today I'm planning on Jodi showing me how she does retouching. This is exciting news for me. =D She has a meeting with the magazine Interview, for tomorrow to show them the video and photographs from the photoshoot "hunting for witches"...coming soon in news stands by you!

Okay that's it! I want to give a special shout out to my friends and family back home, Hey! I want to thank everyone, who probably qualified as being mentioned in the sentence before this one, for reading this post.

Take it easy!

Coming Together

Week 3

Today everything seems to be coming together nicely. The video is working out better then planned for the animal spirit shoot and I'm helping Jodi with the layout for Le Corbeau fashion editorial. It's pretty sweet stuff and I'll let you know when you can check it out on her site.

While working on the layout today I did need to take a break. I know this isn't important but I feel it is necessary to laugh on a daily basis to keep sane. I hope you enjoy the short clip!

One other thing. I will post the animal spirit clip as soon as they finish and allow me to!

Scooting

To those who read this, thanks for coming back to look at the blog. Here lately we've been looking for graphic designers to market to. I'm attempting to create a database with some of them for Jodi. We've been editing photos for the past week and pretty much hanging with our Apples' (not surprising.)

Something totally unrelated but is the shit...I'm PRETTY SURE I saw Slash from Guns'n'Roses riding the subway. Pretty sure! : O

That's about all for the excitement hopefully my next post will be more eventful.

Deprived

Day 7 (maybe, but not really sure)

I want to give Jodi and Shawn a round of applause, along with their crew, for working hard and really making the shoots come together. Also a job well done with being sleep deprived. :l Even though I ache and I have managed to collect bruises, cuts, and pain in general, I'm ready for more.

I had 7 bruises on my forearm somehow and didn't realize it until I got home. I have more bruises that are huge, and I'm sitting here thinking how the hell did I get the shit beat out of me and not even realize....Jodi said it happens to her all the time during fashion week. Being in a mash pit for a slipknot concert seems like a walk in a park. Even though I have these bruises, I'm proud of them because I know worked my butt off and I chose to do the harder labor, gladly.

Monday I helped Shawn with his sister music video, who was a TOTAL SWEETHEART, and was constantly getting hit on by guys here. She's a country singer who will be moving to Nashville and I wish her the best of luck. I would love to thank her for all her help this weekend with the shoots, she was great! I also got to help Jodi edit the photos from the shoots this past weekend : D....SWWWEEEETTTT! Be jealous.

I was searching for a ipad for Jodi to show her portfolio on and was calling the Apple stores around the area, they were all out and there's a week long waiting list. Anyway I thought it was interesting when I was talking to one worker, making it clear that I was wanting to purchase one asap and sighed when he gave me the bad news.

He proceed to try and sell an ipad to me and said yeah they're pretty popular and cool, you need to get you one..... I'm sorry what the fuck did you think I was calling you for....? I like calling stores just to chat about products for the hell of it, with no intention on buying anything.

Then Jodi locked me in the closest and threw away the key, but she at least fed me. Later they found the key and let me out and allowed me to go home. Thank you for letting me go home! : )

That's it you crazy peeps! HOLLA!

The models hair, makeup, and styling WERE AWESOME! The whole crew worked great today and we added 4 new interns for today for Jodi. = ) I will update you more soon but there's a big shoot tomorrow and my body is physically aching and if I was in the movie saw I ...i would have sawed off not a foot but my feet.

Tune in for some fun tomorrow! WOO WOO!

Finally Posting Something

Day 5

I'm back again...it's about time, I know. So this week we have had a lot going on; My Birthday (feel free to wish me a happy birthday, if you haven't, that's okay but if you don't plan to then I hope you trip when your walking in the street.), searching for rakes and shovels, trying to find bones, running around finding a place to buy a male black thong... = I (but for this shoot nobody wants to seeing anyone's junk freeloading; and seeing empty coffins with someone's dead grandmother in the display case at the front of the store, nothing says welcome like a dead corpse. Whheeewwww! Oh yeah, and Jodi had casting models.

Next Category is the person of the day was..... drum roll please.... Ernesto! He's a set designer and a pretty chipper guy loaded with some amazing ideas and he's helping us with the Animal Spirit shoot! Bless his heart, as well as Jodi and Shawn's, for putting up with my dysfunctional navigating system....which is not an I phone.

I should also inform you on some more exciting news which is the intern has almost gotten hit by numerous cars, I'm talking like 5 in one day... I not exactly a size 0, and yes there was a white walk man for any of you trying to take the drivers side. This week has been eventful, tiring (especially physically for shawn) but everything seems to be coming together. Everyone should be very proud of themselves.

Well I'm sorry but I'm ready to roll over and pass out. I will leave you with this ... That so called "Stair master" at the the gym HASN'T MASTERED SHIT! Come to New York if you want to meet the real master! "Bitch Please" will be the words coming out of my mouth the next time I see a "Stair master." HA what a joke. Whoever came up with that name for the machine CLEARLY never lived in New York.

Photo Shoot

Today we shot for teen vogue. That's all you need to know. I'm not at liberty to tell you any more, but the only people currently reading this, I have probably already spoke to on the phone about what we did. But for everyone one else...this is important shit!

Oh wait...What you can know is that there were a lot of fabulous artists working on this shoot, and no I didn't get any autographs. Bet I peaked your interest now......maybe......maybe not so much......? Maybe you should care.

Hope you tune in tomorrow and I'll be posting some of the behind the scenes of this photo shoot. Woo Woo! :D

Hello New York, New York

Day 4

Today was definitely eventful. Jodi sent me into the city of NY. :O That was my response when she said she sending BY MYSELF!.....ha. I was worried, lost, and confused like you would expect a sad little child to be if they went from a small town to a big city. I was thinking how the F am I going to find my way around without any map and trying not to look like I didn't have a clue where the hell I was going. But I made it to my destination....Adorama.

I didn't have to call Jodi once or ask some asshole stranger, who would get joy out of sending me in the wrong direction, to the camera store. I, big shocker here, made it back to Jodi's studio and was rewarded with knowledge on how she does retouching........ummmm JACKPOT!!!!

Then we went location scouting again and I was her test model for a whole 5 min. Jodi had to go back and meet with a designer named Oscar, a man with impeccable taste . So she sent me to do some location scouting by myself. Who would have thought I would have explored New York twice in one day on my own.... I'll be the first to tell you certainly not me. I was proud of myself for doing it once, but twice...JESUS CHRIST! But I did it with joy because of my passion for photography. If I had to walk through hell to do photography, I would.

I'm not going to lie at one point, probably when it started raining, I was like forget this, but then I said to myself " Self why the hell would you even think something like that, this is an amazing opportunity so make the best of it and quit being such a wine bag, jeez" and continued my journey. I was shooting to make Jodi proud.....wish I could give you the answer, but I don't know it. What I can tell you is I gave Jodi my best and put my whole heart into everything I did for her today.

All I know is that I can proudly say to my dad " Dad today was a day I managed to pull my head out of my ass, I hope your proud." It only took 22 years to do it, but I did it. Sorry I can't make any promises for tomorrow. = )

Thanks for being so kind to waste your time and read about my life. Hope to see you back tomorrow! Enjoy the shots I post above.

Chilling at the Studio

Day 3

Today we met with Sarah who is an Art Director that Jodi has worked with a few times before. Sarah was a sweet girl. Not a whole lot went on today. I did a little bit of scouting for Jodi down the street. Not sure if the point of view was anything spectacular for her to look at, but she was a trooper!

I was wanting to go with her to meet with a designer but my equipment was weighing me down along with many other things. I'll be able to update you with some images tomorrow, but I let my memory card with Ms. Jones tonight.

Other exciting news was Shawn's parents came today! YAY! They arrived safely and Jodi got a awesome gift from them. They were really nice! I hope they enjoy their stay in NYC ! =) Welcome, as some might describe it, to the city that never sleeps ( even though that's actually Vegas.)

Well talk to anyone who has found this post, if anyone has found this post, tomorrow! Hope it's a bit interesting even though sadly enough its probably only my family looking at this currently. Thanks for showing us some support! XOXOXO

Road Closed

Day 2
7:30 a.m. Good Morning! Today I got to meet Shawn who works with and for Jodi. I would so far describe him as being a super cool guy but he would probably respond to that as being a super lame way to explain him. Jodi showed the intern how to let people into the building, so Jodi had to basically show the intern how to press a button.

We drove to West end on long beach only to find ROAD CLOSED....though we were finding people other then fishermen and surfers were past that point sign......hmmm? It was a total downer Shawn lost $10 paying to get into "Jones Beach" only to be told AFTER he paid that he couldn't get into Jones Beach. Really....? After finally finding the center, we were told that we basically needed to call someone else JUST TO SCOUT for a shoot. Jodi is now looking at 9 page form to fill out to even do the shoot, what a headache.

We came back to the studio after scouting at the beach and did some busy work. Jodi was the only one looking busy but Shawn was helping her from the couch, and I............ watched Jodi. :/

Anyway now it's time for some of this fun stuff.....VISUALS of the day!!! Woowoo! Enjoy!

Just Read It

Hello my name is Jacqueline Pate and I'm a 23 year old intern who moved their broke ass from Missouri to New York City in hopes to one day become a fashion photographer. Jodi Jones gave me a shot to learn from her and experience what a fashion photographers life is all about. So I'm here to inform you about life beyond the "L train."

Day 1
We cleaned, we talked, and we bonded. She gave me the 411 on what needs to be done within this week and the top priority of the week was to come up with a concept having to do with animal prints. We called it a day and she took me out to eat with Colin, who is a badass with a Scotland accent. After I parted with him he probably advised Jodi to get an intern who can hear so he doesn't have to repeat himself 5 times when he says something.
